33rd Annual Crestone Energy Fair

The longest running sustainable energy fair in the country takes place on August 27-28, 2022. It’s the 33nd Annual Crestone Energy Fair, happening in the town of Crestone Colorado. Join Director Lisa Bodey, Producer Nick Nevares and Booking Agent Lydia Sprouts as we discuss this year's events. Topics include home tours, the Wellness Village, Rainbow Lightning Youth Village, education workshops, volunteer needs, discussion panels, fielding a few off the wall questions, and more.

The Crestone Energy Fair continues to be a tradition in the San Luis Valley for more than thirty years, bringing innovative ideas in construction, lifestyle, and sustainability to the region. This event continues to be one of the longest running sustainability fairs in the nation, and in the past has included a weekend of educational presentations, community symposiums, hands on demonstrations, and guided home tours. Run by committed volunteers, this free event is committed to improving the lives of all attendees by empowering them to learn and experience the necessary skills to use alternative building methodologies and materials in future projects.

Since 1990, this annual event has been hosted in the San Luis Valley and remains one of the longest running alternative lifestyle fairs in the nation. We anticipate 750-1000 live attendees, reach over 1000 viewers on our YouTube Channel and have cultivated an email list of over 1500 subscribers. As rural Colorado grows, it becomes ever more important to provide a culture of sustainability through our free event and access to continuing education throughout the year.

The Crestone Energy Fair is a non-profit organization highlighting innovative and visionary energy systems, building technologies and lifestyles, which connect the skill sets and resources of communities who practice regenerative living.

Vision:

Our vision is to be a leading model and global leader of sustainable and regenerative living practices by hosting hands-on workshops, educational seminars, symposiums and online materials. We strive to support economic development, create new job opportunities, utilize natural resources more consciously and efficiently and facilitate an atmosphere of collaboration and conflict resolution within the community. We integrate the vision and wisdom of our ancestors, elders, peers and youth into lessons and create networks of support for healing.

We accomplish our Mission and Vision through a year-round networking platform which offers educational, informational and empowering workshops on:

  • Alternative building methods such as strawbale, cob, cordwood, earthships and rammed earth including hands-on demonstrations.
  • Alternative energies such as solar, wind & hydroelectric.
  • Grey, black, rain & other water systems.
  • Permaculture, gardening, composting & vermiculture.
  • Current technology systems and their impacts & regulations (5G, Smart Meters, etc.).
  • Energetic healing modalities like tai chi, qi gong, breathwork & sound healing.
  • Restoring community health and repairing harm through restorative and non-violent communication practices.
  • Engaging in intentional celebration and ceremony through the arts, music and dance.
  • Creating meaningful volunteer opportunities.
